The Hermit is a representation of the need to take time for yourself. The reason is not just for self because it is a time of healing but more of a time to reflect on yourself, your hopes, your path, and the current parameters that make up your life as it is today.
The Hermit is depicted atop a large mountain. As you can infer from the environment of the mountain it is not a spa day. Rather it is an intense personal retreat where the conditions of the environment make for you to focus on yourself, your thoughts, and your feelings, without distraction.
This makes the activity of the hermit much more solemn than just a simple self-care day. This is hardcore human development happening here. Though we do not have to subject ourselves to the extremes of the Hermit to uncover our truth, we can take the hint that this is a serious matter and deserves careful examination and mindfulness.
Today is gonna be that day. At some point, you need to come to your own refuge of solitude, and give yourself the attention and the self-examination required for your well-being and to determine the next course of action.
The Hermit holds a lantern, symbolic of his search and the dark places it can take him. Often within the lantern is a 6 pointed star, the Seal of Solomon, it is a symbol of wisdom which is what helps guide the Hermit on his journey for truth. He holds a staff signaling his power and authority.
You must use your accumulated wisdom to guide you through the tough terrain and do so with power and authority. The determined spirit of one who seeks enlightenment.
In any reading where the hermit appears it's usually an indication that you should pause and really examine the situation. In relationship readings really try to understand yourself, your partner, and the relationship and set forth clear communication. For career readings, it signifies a time when wisdom and discernment are needed before making any big decisions and contracts. In health readings, it signifies the need to be away from your normal environment and search for one where you can focus on healing.
The Hermit is a guide and teacher so it would be appropriate to be on the lookout for who this guide or teacher could be in your life events as they come to unfold.
May the wheel turn in our favor!
