About The Spread:
  1. The Past card shows a recent event that is still influencing you.
  2. The Present card shows your current situation.
  3. The Future card indicates something occurring soon.
  4. The Shadow card indicates the overall theme or underlying message of the reading, it is the card at the bottom of the deck after the spread has been cast.

My Personal Tarot Reading

Past: 6 of swords- having learned a hard but valuable lesson you are moving on to new ways.

Present: 2 of pentacles- currently learning to balance work and play or the material and the spiritual, taking a focus in this process.

Future: Queen of Swords- A coming ability to be more guarded with emotions, not in a negative way, but being able to control the tendency to react before thought; applying hard-learned lessons on matters of emotion as well as being more creative in analytical skills utilizing emotion properly rather than dependent upon how you feel.

Shadow card: 10 of Swords- Finally the shadow shows the reverse for the 10 of swords which indicates the worst is over and the dawn is upon us. You have overcome mental anguish and are now healing and have grown stronger mentally for it.

Reflection:
Despite having faced a difficult challenge, I am grateful for the experience that came from it. Instead of following the same path I usually went when confronted by adversity, this time using the tools I've learned from recovery alongside prayer and meditation, I allowed myself a new experience with an open mind.

Instead of running I stayed put.
Instead of suffering in silence, I shared with my support network.
Instead of cowering, I stood up for myself, in doing so I stood up for others as well.
Instead of holding onto the resentment I was able to let it go allowing me room to grow.

I am thankful for those in my support network. I am thankful for the tools of recovery I've learned and been able to successfully apply. I am thankful for my new, stronger connection with Spirit. 

Every situation can either break you down or make you stronger. It takes a conscious decision to follow either path. I made the conscious decision to take a path I was not familiar with but open to the healing it promises. My reward was not instant but far more than anything that would have come easily.
